Yondu spearheaded a month-long cybersecurity awareness campaign in October 2024 to mark Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The initiative aimed to fortify the country’s defenses against growing digital threats by engaging professionals from the banking, government, and enterprise sectors. Through expert-led sessions, technical demonstrations, and specialized training programs, Yondu highlighted critical issues such as threat detection, incident response, and social engineering defense.
This campaign came amid a surge in high-profile cyberattacks targeting major Philippine organizations, emphasizing the need for robust security measures. “Modern businesses need stronger cybersecurity than ever. As organizations handle growing volumes of sensitive information, our managed security services capabilities and understanding of the local threat landscape will help Filipino companies protect themselves against emerging threats,” according to Dennis Sanchez, Chief Information Security Officer at Yondu.

Strengthening Internal & External Security
Yondu bolstered its internal security by hosting tailored training sessions for its workforce. Non-technical employees underwent social engineering training to identify deceptive tactics like phishing and impersonation. Technical staff participated in advanced workshops focusing on secure coding practices and threat intelligence to stay ahead of evolving cyber risks.
Externally, Yondu collaborated with industry leaders and government entities to share best practices. At BPI’s Cybersecurity Awareness Event, Sanchez discussed strategies to counter phishing, malware, and social engineering attacks. In addition, Yondu partnered with Globe Business for a Security Operations Center (SOC) immersion, offering a deep dive into SOC processes and deliverables.
Yondu also showcased its technical expertise at Globe’s internal Blue Hat Event, demonstrating hacking tools such as HackRF, WiFi Pineapple, and Flipper Zero. At MONEYME Financial’s event, the team highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in modern cybersecurity, focusing on automated threat detection and intelligent defense mechanisms.
Digital Outreach & Public Sector Collaboration
The campaign extended to local government units (LGUs), with Sanchez leading discussions on how SOCs can safeguard critical public-sector data. Yondu further amplified its reach through digital platforms, sharing educational content on Facebook, Instagram, and its “y-speak” podcast available on YouTube and Spotify.
Podcast episodes featured security experts discussing topics like cellular network security, collaborative threat intelligence, and open-source intelligence in cybersecurity.
