I submitted a proposal to talk at WordCamp Iloilo 2019 and it was accepted!
Held at the Iloilo Convention Center (locals call it as ICON) from 24 to 25 August 2019, this will be my first time to speak at a WordCamp outside of Metro Manila.
On Friday night (before the conference), WordCamp Iloilo 2019 speakers were treated to an awesome buffet dinner reception at Farm to Table (Transcom Bldg., Megaworld Blvd, Mandurriao, Iloilo City).
The first day of the conference were dedicated to workshops for both newbies and seasoned WordPress users. My talk was scheduled for the second day plenary.
I stayed at the room for advanced WordPress users and hang-around with Mozillians from Bacolod City. Topics at this track included WordPress Plugin Development, WP-CLI from Scratch, and Project Management on the Cloud.
The second day of the conference was dedicated to plenary talks, which included on from fellow Mozilla Rep MD Shahbaz Alam of India. Talks included topics on Marketing WordPress Products for Users, Not for Fellow Developers; How to Hire WordPress Developers & Designers; choosing the Right WP Host; Essentials Before Becoming a Freelancer; Why SEO is a Process & Not a Plugin; Plugin Troubleshooting; and the Auth0 WordPress Plugin.
I gave a talk about Firefox Developer Tools for WordPress Developers. Here’s my slide deck for the conference:

And since I was at the Football Capital of the Philippines, low and behold, the first question I got after getting of the stage, “What is the name of your football club?” Seriously, the reception of the talk was good enough to generate quite a number of questions from the attendees during the open forum with all of the speakers all throughout the conference.
