McDonald’s Philippines took the local social media by storm this weekend by announcing that they are converting some of their party rooms into free coworking spaces for teachers dubbed as McClassroom.
I paid a nearby McDonald’s outlet (which is listed as one of the McClassrooms) a visit and these are what I found out:
- Teachers who wish to avail of this free service need to reserve a slot by visiting participating McDonald’s outlets. They need to show proof (i.e. ID cards) that they are indeed teachers in order to have a McClassroom slot.
- Teachers may choose among two (02) slots to use the McClassroom:
- from 0800H to 1200H; and
- from 1300H to 1700H.
- Walk-ins will be allowed provided that there are still free slots. McDonald’s prefer for teachers to have prior reservations.
- McDonald’s will provide the coworking space, free McCafe coffee, Internet connection via WiFi, and electricity (though teachers may need to bring their own extension cords).
- Physical distancing will be observed inside the McClassroom at all times.
For McDonald’s MCS in Makati City, their McClassroom is now ready to accept teachers come Monday morning (photos taken at around 1500H of Sunday, 04 October 2020):
Thanks to the awesome crew of McDonald’s MCS (Makati Cinema Square) for being so accommodating to all my questions about this awesome program to help our educators go through this challenging times. Thanks to McDonald’s Philippines for this awesome initiative! Mabuhay!
