Eight (08) of the world’s best men’s volleyball teams, including crowd favorites Japan and first-time participants USA, will battle it out for glory in the much-anticipated Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2024 Manila that started last 18 June 2024 until 23 June 2024 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
This marks the third consecutive year that the Philippines will host the prestigious VNL Men’s competition, highlighting the country’s growing popularity in the volleyball scene. The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) has once again partnered with PLDT Home to bring this world-class event to Filipino fans and athletes alike.
“PLDT’s support has been instrumental not only for our athletes but also for volleyball’s overall development in our schools and local leagues. We are proud to see fans enthusiastically supporting international tournaments like this, and hopefully this inspires our teams to excel in future competitions,” according to PNVF Head Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
Fans can expect thrilling matches featuring top-ranked teams like 2021 champions Brazil, 2022 winners France, and powerhouse teams Germany (11th) and Canada (12th). Additionally, world no. 13 Netherlands, and no. 17 Iran will be joining the competition, rounding out the participating nations.
This event serves as a crucial stepping stone for the Philippines’ hosting of the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship, following the country’s successful hosting of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
Japanese volleyball superstars Yuki Ishikawa and Ran Takahashi, who already boast a significant Filipino fanbase, are expected to lead their team in a triumphant return. The tournament culminates with a highly anticipated showdown between the USA and Japan on Sunday, 23 June 2024 at 7:00 PM.
For fans unable to attend in person, Cignal TV will be broadcasting the games. Viewers can catch all the action by subscribing to PLDT Home’s new Fiber Unli All Plan 1799, which offers unlimited fiber internet up to 200 Mbps, free mobile calls to Smart and TNT subscribers, and a PHP100 discount on the monthly service fee for the first 12 months for new subscribers.
