The Tiger Media Network (TMN), the official broadcasting arm of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) under the supervision of the Communications Bureau, formally relaunched its two prominent stations: UST Tiger TV and UST Tiger Radio in a grand event titled “Roaring into the Future: Getting to Know TMN.” Held at the UST Communications Bureau last 15 September 2023, the event marked the formal reactivation of campus TV sets and the introduction of captivating new content for the academic year.
TMN used this dynamic platform to reintroduce itself to the Thomasian community, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to delivering stories for and by the UST community. Fresh content and shows, including “Tiger Rush” and “The Assignment,” joined the regular lineup featuring “Lifeline,” “Culture Shock,” and “The Frontrunners.”
The ceremonial relaunch of campus television sets around UST was led by Fr. Louie R. Coronel, O.P., University Secretary-General, along with UST Communications Bureau Director Philippe Jose Hernadez, MEng, and Assistant Director Faye Martel-Abugan, MA.
“Our vision extends beyond simply informing the UST community; it aspires to contribute to a well-informed society. We don’t limit ourselves to producing content exclusively for Thomasians or about Thomasians; rather, we strive to enrich society’s knowledge with the valuable expertise that Thomasians bring to the table,” said Martel-Abugan.
The event, attended by deans from different faculties, colleges, and institutes within the university, student organizations and councils, media partners, and brand sponsors, offered an open-house experience complete with guided tours of the state-of-the-art broadcasting facilities at the Bureau and gave guests a chance to participate in #ExperienceTMN at its newest studio by trying out sample spiels.
“Roaring into the Future: Getting to Know TMN” represents an invitation to the entire Thomasian community, including students, faculty, alumni, and external stakeholders, to come together and collaborate on fresh content. TMN, powered by its dedicated student volunteers, will continue its mission to capture the essence of Thomasian life and culture through compelling storytelling, a commitment that takes center stage in this relaunch event.
