Tanduay is set to ignite the spirit of community with the fourth annual Bacolod Rum Festival, themed “Ambagan.” This nine-day celebration, running from 10 to 18 August 2024, promises a vibrant fusion of food, arts, music, and entertainment.
Rooted in the city’s rich sugarcane heritage, the festival pays homage to Bacolod as the heart and soul of Tanduay, the world’s number one rum brand. Lucio Tan III, President of LT Group and Tanduay Distillers, Inc., emphasized the festival’s role in showcasing Bacolod’s culinary prowess and artistic talent.
“This festival is more than just a celebration; it’s a platform to highlight the invaluable contributions of the Bacolodnon people to our community. Through ‘Ambagan,’ we aim to recognize the collective efforts that make Bacolod a thriving city,” Tan said during the festival’s launch.
Councilor Em Ang, Chairman of Bacolod City History, Culture, and Arts, expressed gratitude for the strong partnership between the city government and Tanduay. “This festival is a testament to our shared commitment to preserving our culture and boosting our local economy,” Ang said.
The festival kicks off with a motorcade on 10 August 2024, leading to the opening of the Food Park at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC). This culinary haven will feature a diverse array of local and international dishes, coupled with nightly entertainment and mixology.
A highlight of the festival is the Mixology Competition on 12 August 2024, where talented bartenders will showcase their skills. The Culinaria Competition follows on 14-15 August 2024, celebrating the city’s culinary artistry. Rum Education Day on 16 August 2024 offers a Tanduay Plant Tour, Rum Masterclass, and the grand finals of the Mixology Competition.
The festival culminates in a grand celebration on 17 August 2024, featuring a motorcade parade with beauty queens and Tanduay Brand Ambassador Derek Ramsay, followed by a Street Dance Competition and a concert headlined by Juan Karlos and Almost.
The Tanduay Bacolod Rum Festival is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of Bacolod’s identity and a testament to the enduring spirit of its people. By bringing together the community through food, music, and art, the festival aims to create lasting memories and strengthen the bond between Tanduay and its home city.
