As Sky Cable Corporation, a subsidiary of ABS-CBN Corporation is being plagued with tons of complaints from irate Cable TV (CATV) and Broadband Internet subscribers over these past few weeks due to connectivity issues, another bad news arrived via email today.
Dear Subscriber,
The SKY On Demand service will no longer be available on the web, app and on the SKY On Demand box effective September 1, 2020.
We are moving to a better platform soon. We will be sending out more information on this in the coming days.
Thank you for continued loyalty to SKY.
Email sent to Sky Cable subscribers.
Sky On Demand is a video-on-demand service exclusively available to Sky CATV and Broadband Internet subscribers in the Philippines. If your CATV subscription is down or out-of-service and you have a decent internet connection, you can simply log on to skyondemand.com.ph to watch from your favorite TV show’s archives or watch live TV!
In a related but separate note, ABS-CBN’s other internet service iWant is moving to a new and bigger home by September 1st. Under a new name, iWant TFC, subscribers of this video-on-demand service will enjoy online content without ads, the ability to create playlists, stream on multiple devices at once, and promises to have thousands of titles to watch.
Both subsidiaries’ parent company, ABS-CBN, failed to secure a renewal of its broadcast franchise this year. Only this week, the Supreme Court dismissed on the ground of mootness” the petition filed by television network ABS-CBN Corporation challenging the Cease and Desist Order issued against them by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) last May 5th.
What does this mean?
