Sky Cable Corp. is set to enhance its network infrastructure and elevate customer experience through a strategic partnership with leading fiber broadband provider Converge Information and Communications Technology Solutions, Inc. (Converge ICT). The collaboration aims to tap into Converge’s extensive fiber network to bolster Sky’s service capabilities.
“Converge has built a superior state-of-the-art fiber network nationwide that Sky customers will soon experience,” according to Mark Lopez, Sky Cable Chairman, highlighting the potential of the partnership.
Converge boasts the Philippines’ largest fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network, with over eight million ports and a fiber footprint spanning 700,000 kilometers, reaching 16 million Filipino homes nationwide. As of the end of March 2024, Converge serves an impressive 2.3 million residential broadband subscribers across the country.
Converge President and Co-Founder Maria Grace Uy expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting that it will enable Converge to optimize network utilization and generate additional revenue. “This will be a revenue boost for Converge consistent with similar arrangements with other players as we are able to continue to monetize further our excess network capacity,” Uy explained.
Beyond the network upgrade, Sky’s transformation program encompasses increased operational efficiency, financial discipline, and organizational improvements.
“As everyone knows, the first business that I built on my own was in cable television and with the increasing availability of fiber technology in the early 2000s outside the Philippines, my wife Grace and I decided to enter the fixed broadband business. So, I’m really excited that we are able to help Sky, the leader in the cable business, in its own transformation program by providing them the latest optical fiber technology,” said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy.
Both companies expressed optimism that the partnership will set a new standard for broadband services in the Philippines, potentially inspiring other industry players to follow suit. As both Sky and Converge aim to expand their reach and improve customer satisfaction, subscribers can look forward to enhanced internet connectivity and a wider range of digital services in the coming months.
