By default, it is a USB 3.0 device for quick file transfer, it is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and can be used on computers running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and macOS X 10.6 or later (NTFS driver for Mac is provided for use interchangeable between Windows and macOS). This particular model does not require a power supply — power from the USB port is enough. This device supports automatic and cloud backup based on a schedule (hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly backups) with the included Seagate Dashboard software.
