SAFC, a leading non-bank financial institution in the Philippines, recently marked its 20th anniversary at its 2024 Joint Annual Stockholders’ Meeting with its subsidiary, Wisefund Finance Corporation (WFC). Held at The Westin Manila, the event gathered key executives, shareholders, and directors to commemorate two decades of transforming lives and driving financial success.

Among the notable attendees were SAFC Chairman Ruben Y. Lugtu II, Vice Chairman William S. Uy, CEO and Executive Director Robert B. Jordan Jr., and newly elected directors from Creador, Omar Mahmoud, and Maynard M. Mendoza. The company also paid tribute to the late Ruben O. Lugtu Sr., whose early support was instrumental to SAFC’s achievements.

Aligned with its 20th anniversary, SAFC unveiled its 2024 Annual and Sustainability Report themed “20 Years of Making Filipino Lives and Our Earth Better!” This theme underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability and creating a positive social and environmental impact. Despite economic challenges in 2023, SAFC demonstrated resilience and growth, mirroring the Philippine economy’s 5.6% expansion. The company’s total disbursements surged by 14.5% to PHP3.55 billion, driven by successful refinancing initiatives.

SAFC’s financial performance over the past five years is equally impressive. Net income climbed by 73.64% to PHP 346.3 million, while operating income increased by 10.9% to PHP1.55 billion. Total assets reached PHP5.2 billion, representing a robust 36.28% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR). These figures highlight SAFC’s strategic planning, operational excellence, and commitment to delivering value to stakeholders.

Risk management remains a top priority for SAFC. The company maintained a low non-performing loan ratio of 1.47% and significantly reduced its tolerance for bad debts. In addition, SAFC strengthened its financial position by improving its current ratio and debt-to-equity ratio while expanding its banking partnerships to 19.

Sustainability is at the core of SAFC’s operations. The company’s “SAFC Heroes” campaign focused on health and wellness, community development, and environmental sustainability through bloodletting activities, youth sports leagues, donation drives, tree-planting initiatives, and outreach programs. The “Reduce, Reuse, and Redrive” campaign promoted the use of second-hand cars, further emphasizing SAFC’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

As part of its 20th anniversary celebration, SAFC launched the “VIPXXPerience” campaign, highlighting two decades of dedicated service and positive impact. The company’s commitment to its partners, employees, and the community solidifies its position as a responsible corporate citizen.

Looking ahead, SAFC remains steadfast in its mission to drive equitable growth and sustainable development. By supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the company contributes to the strengthening of the Philippine economy. With strong leadership and unwavering dedication, SAFC is poised to continue its journey as a leading force in the financial services industry.
