On the first quarter of this year, I led an initiative within the Mozilla Philippines Community (MozillaPH) to start a study group for Rust (Programming Language). Rust is a general-purpose, multi-paradigm, compiled programming language backed by Mozilla (for one, it was created by Graydon Hoare, a Mozilla employee). Some say it competes with C++ and D programming languages.

Several meetups had been staged at the Mozilla Community Space Manila (MozSpaceMNL) over these past few weeks to have a general idea on the traction of people interested in learning this new programming language.

Last Tuesday, 14 Jun 2016 we had our very first Rust Hack & Learn session at MozSpaceMNL. We had quite a number of attendees, composed of individuals: students, professionals and members of the academe. We hope to stage more of these Rust Hack & Learn sessions soon.
