PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and Cignal TV have announced their backing for the Philippines’ historic solo hosting of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, set to take place from 12 to 28 September 2025.
PLDT, the country’s largest telecommunications network, has been named the official broadband partner for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, while Cignal TV, the pay TV arm of the MediaQuest Group, will serve as the event’s official broadcaster.
“This is a great opportunity to inspire a new generation of Filipino athletes and showcase our countrymen’s passion for sports. The Philippines is now taking center stage in the world of volleyball. We look forward to working with the DOT and the PNVF to provide a top-notch experience for fans all over the world,” according to Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of PLDT.
The Philippines will make history as the first solo host nation of the world’s premier men’s volleyball tournament. With an expanded format featuring 32 teams, the 2025 championship promises to be the largest FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship to date. This announcement comes amidst the backdrop of volleyball’s soaring popularity in the Philippines, marked by fervent support from a passionate fanbase and the flourishing of highly competitive leagues such as Spikers’ Turf, Premier Volleyball League (PVL), and Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Champions League.
“It will be a huge challenge to host the highest-ranking teams and fans from all over the world. But as Filipinos, we know we can create the best environment for everyone to compete at the highest level on our home soil,” said Ramon Suzara, PNVF President.
Preparations for the Philippine men’s national volleyball team are already underway, beginning with an extensive selection process for the player pool and the forthcoming revelation of a new team name. PLDT’s commitment to the sport extends beyond national representation, as evidenced by its pivotal role as a partner in the successful staging of the 2023 Volleyball Nations League in Manila.
