The ongoing pandemic caused a halt to face-to-face community meetups and conferences for more than a year now. Thankfully, with improving Internet services being rolled out all over the country, different local organizations who used to organize in-person events are able to mount, host webinars and online conferences aimed at upskilling and continuously educating their intended audiences.
The Philippine Tech Week 2021 will put the spotlight on honing the skills not just of its members but also of each and every Filipino during these trying times.
From 17 to 22 May 2021, local like-minded and community-focused tech organizations collectively known as the Philippine Tech Communities will be hosting the first-of-its-kind tech conference in the country dubbed as the Philippine Tech Week 2021. With this year’s theme of “Building Skills, Better Careers through Tech Communities,” the week-long online conference will feature keynotes, talks, and workshops co-organized by different member communities representing technologies from all corners of the industry.
What started as a regular coordination meeting between community organizers and representatives from Microsoft Philippines, Google Philippines, Mozilla Philippines, and Developers Connect (DevCon) Philippines in April 2016 grew to a group with more than seventy (70) member tech communities regularly discussing issues around community growth, management, expanding linkages, and the promotion of collaboration among different organizations.
Some of the thought leaders and startup personalities scheduled to give their keynotes are DevConPH Founder Winston Damarillo, LUNA Academy Board Director and CloudSwyft Founder & CEO Dann Angelo De Guzman, and Eskwelabs Co-founder Angela Chen.
Local tech communities Drupal Pilipinas, WordPress User Group Philippines, Syntactics Pink, PythonPH, ProductPH, PWA Pilipinas, ULAP.org, ReactJS Philippines, Freecodecamp Manila, Ministry of Testing, Digital Ocean Manila, AWS User Group Philippines, and the Mozilla Philippines Community are among the confirmed session hosts during the week-long tech conference.
