Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), the exclusive licensee of 7-Eleven in the Philippines, has reached a major milestone with the grand opening of its 4,000th store in Newport City, Pasay City. This celebration comes as PSC marks 40 years of serving Filipinos, evolving from a single store into a nationwide staple known for convenience and reliability.
The company’s journey began on 29 February 1984, with the opening of its first store at the corner of EDSA and Kamias Road in Metro Manila. The bright orange, green, and red signage quickly became a familiar sight, drawing busy city dwellers for quick snacks and drinks. Over the past four decades, the brand has become synonymous with everyday convenience, ingraining itself into Filipino culture with the popular call, “Tara, 7-Eleven tayo!”
Today, PSC has grown to 4,000 stores across the Philippines, continuing its commitment to being “the Filipinos’ neighbor you can count on.” This vision, first expressed by its late founder Vicente T. Paterno, lives on through his son, Jose Victor Paterno, who now serves as the company’s President and CEO. “Celebrating 40 years and opening our 4,000th store underscores our dedication to providing convenience and exceptional service,” Paterno said during a press conference in Pasay City Tuesday afternoon. “We’re thrilled to continue serving our communities, and we have exciting developments on the horizon.”
One of these developments includes enhancements to the company’s CLIQQ kiosks, a service that allows customers to pay bills, top-up mobile accounts, and more. Paterno promised that customers would soon enjoy a better experience with CLIQQ as the company transitioned to a new provider. This upgrade is expected to improve efficiency and make the kiosks more user-friendly, reinforcing PSC’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
Looking ahead, PSC is also focused on expanding its presence in the Mindanao region. The company plans to open its first store in Zamboanga, marking a significant step in its mission to grow its footprint in the southern Philippines further. This move is part of a broader strategy to bring 7-Eleven’s signature convenience to more Filipinos nationwide.
Co-founder and Chairman of the Board, Jose T. Pardo, expressed pride in the company’s accomplishments. “Reaching 4,000 stores is an incredible achievement that reflects the trust and loyalty we’ve built with our customers, as well as the dedication of our team. We are honored to remain an integral part of Filipino daily life.”
In line with this milestone, PSC launched a year-long campaign, “Forty-gether kasama ang paborito mong kapit-bahay,” celebrating the brand’s journey from its first store to a nationwide presence. The campaign underscores 7-Eleven’s role as a trusted neighborhood companion, blending convenience with a sense of community.
Along with the 4,000th store in Newport, PSC is set to open a new branch in Angeles City, Pampanga, on October 15, 2024. The new store will feature upgraded dining spaces, the popular 21 To Go chicken, and Café Reserve offerings. It will also integrate solar panels as part of PSC’s ongoing efforts toward sustainability and environmentally friendly practices.
As PSC celebrates four decades of operation, it looks forward to many more years of serving Filipinos, whether through late-night snack runs, CLIQQ upgrades, or its expanding footprint in new regions. 7-Eleven continues to be a trusted and familiar presence in the daily lives of Filipinos, bringing convenience and comfort wherever it goes.
