President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. officially opened the 2025 DTI Bagong Pilipinas National Food Fair, a five-day gastronomic showcase that highlights the best of Filipino culinary heritage, regional delicacies, and food innovation. The event, organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), features over 250 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from across the Philippines.

Held under the theme of promoting Filipino creativity and entrepreneurship, the fair is designed to support and empower local food producers. During the opening ceremony, President Marcos was joined by key officials, including First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque, Tourism Secretary Christina G. Frasco, SM Investments Corporation Vice-Chairman Tessie Sy-Coson, and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go.

In his address, President Marcos underscored the significance of the event in fostering national pride and economic growth, “This national food fair is more than a gastronomic celebration of our rich and diverse culinary heritage. It is a testament to the incredible talent, ingenuity, and industry of our local farmers and artisans who bring pride and honor to our country.”

Trade Secretary Roque highlighted the unique offerings of the regions, saying, “From the prized heirloom rice and coffee of the Cordilleras to the artisanal chocolate of Mindanao, and the delightful fruit wines and ‘kakanin’ of the Visayas — our unparalleled regional food heritage takes center stage.”

A major milestone of this year’s fair is the launch of the DTI Bagong Pilipinas Marketplace, now the country’s largest business-to-business (B2B) eCommerce platform dedicated to promoting Philippine MSMEs. The platform is set to link local entrepreneurs with both domestic and international buyers, supporting a broader and more inclusive digital trade environment.

This initiative is aligned with the government’s Tatak Pinoy Strategy, which aims to strengthen the Philippines’ industrial base and elevate globally competitive local products. The strategy focuses on innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth — enabling Filipino businesses to scale up, access larger markets, and contribute more to national progress.

Visitors to the fair can explore themed pavilions such as the Fresh Produce Grand Marketplace, KAPEtirya: Philippine Coffee Pavilion, and KAINAN: Onsite Dining Area, where they can indulge in immersive culinary experiences. Daily highlights include cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs, wine-mixing and food-pairing sessions, cultural performances, and business dialogues.

The 2025 DTI Bagong Pilipinas National Food Fair not only celebrates the flavors of the Philippines but also reinforces the critical role of MSMEs in driving innovation and cultural preservation through food.
