The Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Marketing and Development Promotions Office (DTI-BMDPO), in partnership with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and other key organizations, has unveiled the 1st COCONUTPhilippines Trade Fair at Megatrade Hall 1, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City. This three-day event is a milestone for the Philippine coconut industry, showcasing its potential as a global leader in innovation and sustainability.

The opening ceremony featured the lighting of a coconut-themed Christmas tree, symbolizing the growth and resilience of the industry. Crafted from sustainable coconut materials, the tree reflects the sector’s creativity and commitment to eco-friendly practices. This vibrant display set the tone for the event, celebrating the ingenuity of Filipino coconut farmers and entrepreneurs.

Introducing the COCONUTPhilippines Brand

The highlight of the event was the launch of the COCONUTPhilippines brand, a unified identity for the country’s coconut-based products. This initiative is a game-changer for the industry, aiming to elevate the global image of Philippine coconut goods and drive demand in international markets. Philippine Coconut Authority Administrator Dr. Dexter Buted emphasized, “The CFIDP is not just a roadmap — it’s a commitment to the future of our coconut farmers and entrepreneurs, whose hard work and dedication sustain this industry. Through an integrated, multi-sectoral and whole of government approach, we hope to provide them with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed.”

Adding a festive touch, the event introduced the CocoMania mascots, CocoMania Buko and CocoMania Niyog. Representing the fresh and dried varieties of coconut, these mascots are set to become ambassadors for the industry, making appearances at events to educate and engage audiences about the crop’s versatility and significance in Filipino culture.

The trade fair features over 90 exhibitors from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, offering a wide range of coconut products such as virgin coconut oil, coconut sugar, coco coir, cosmetics, eco-friendly packaging, and innovative food and beverage products. Visitors can engage in product launches, business networking, and market testing.

The event is a key initiative under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), mandated by Republic Act No. 11524. This comprehensive program focuses on income diversification, market expansion, and poverty alleviation for coconut farmers.
