Whenever we plan of heading to SM Mall of Asia, it’s either for food, movie, or shopping. But today we had a different agenda: try to catch a real Formula 1 (F1) car running the streets of the Mall of Asia Complex.
News of our very own racing champ Marlon Stockinger is in town together with the Lotus F1 Team (where he is currently part of the F1 Junior Team) spread like wildfire when the distinctively unique sound of an F1 car revving was heard at KM0 (Kilometer Zero) – popularly known as the Rizal Monument at Luneta (Rizal Park).
After my son’s Karatedo class, we had a very quick lunch then headed to the Mall of Asia Complex. I chose CBTL Two E-Com Plaza as our staging area – a place where Robyn and I can leave his mom (came from sick bay) as well as our stuff (since I opted not to bring a vehicle anticipating the traffic jam the event may cause).
Low and behold … as my son and I are taking the steps down of the Prism Plaza towards the streets at the back of Two E-Com Plaza, the crowd had started to occupy the temporary fence alongside the parking area and we can clearly hear the voice of James Deakin pumping the crowd to cheer.
Then moments later, the national pride Marlon Stockinger drives his F1 car out of the pit and on to the streets of the MOA Complex – all the way up to the globe rotunda …
Awesome experience! We even experienced being jet-blasted by an F1 car! Good luck to Marlon. Make the entire country proud.
