Lalamove Philippines has officially entered the ride-hailing industry, expanding its services beyond delivery to provide commuters with more transportation options. The company is targeting the onboarding of at least 15,000 drivers in the first half of 2025, focusing on the Greater Manila Area, Pampanga, and Cebu.
Expanding Livelihood Opportunities for Drivers
Known for its efficient delivery services, Lalamove is now offering ride-hailing to create additional income opportunities for drivers. By June 2025, the company aims to onboard drivers operating hatchbacks, sedans, and MPVs.
“We are beyond thrilled to announce to the public that Lalamove Ride is finally and officially here. Right now, our goal is to have a large pool of partner drivers to serve more passengers in the Philippines, starting with the Greater Manila Area, Pampanga, and Cebu this February. And to make it more rewarding for partner drivers, we’re starting with a two-percent (2%) commission rate, so they get to take home 98 percent of their earnings on top of Panalomove partner driver benefits,” according to Djon Nacario, Lalamove Philippines Managing Director.
To join the platform, applicants must submit the required documents, including a Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) or Provisional Authority (PA) from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), a professional driver’s license, clearances from the NBI or barangay, passenger accident insurance, and vehicle photos. Additional requirements apply to second-hand vehicle owners and those using borrowed vehicles.
Lalamove’s expansion into ride-hailing comes in response to growing demand from commuters. Many users had previously considered using the platform for personal transport but were restricted by the app’s limitations. With this new service, Lalamove Ride partner drivers are expected to see a high volume of bookings. The logistics company aims to offer competitive and affordable fares, aligning with LTFRB’s pricing regulations.
Features & Safety Measures
The new service introduces several features designed to enhance user experience and safety:
- Real-time GPS tracking for ride monitoring
- 24/7 in-app chat for driver-passenger communication
- Driver and Passenger Accident Insurance provided by Chubb
- SOS emergency button for direct contact with authorities
- Government-mandated 20% fare discounts for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities
- Strict driver registration process to ensure safety
“Lalamove has always been focused on providing convenience, efficiency, safety, and affordability to Filipino consumers — a standard we set in the Philippines for on-demand delivery services. From handling of parcels and packages, we move to safely transporting passengers. With 15,000 drivers onboarded by June 2025, we will deliver the same for on-demand transportation to allow Lalamove users to get to where they need to faster and with greater ease,” shared Nacario.
