Lalamove, the leading on-demand delivery platform, awards PHP20,000 worth of educational financial assistance to 100 partner driver beneficiaries as part of its groundbreaking BiyahEdukasyon program — a first of its kind within the global network of the company. The awarding presentation, attended by over 300 individuals, including government officials, recognized senior high school and college students within the Lalamove community. The financial aid aims to alleviate the burden of educational expenses, covering tuition fees, uniforms, school supplies, and day-to-day living costs.
Expressing gratitude for the support provided, recipients at the ceremony outlined their plans for utilizing Lalamove’s financial assistance, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on their pursuit of academic and career aspirations.
Delivering Care Through Education
Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) revealed that only 81.4% of children aged 5 to 24 can attend school. Lalamove’s BiyahEdukasyon program addresses key barriers to education. Factors such as employment (19.7%) and the high cost of education or financial problems (9.9%) contribute to the challenges faced by Filipino youth.
The program, which received over a thousand stories of triumph, resilience, and perseverance from partner drivers across Lalamove’s 48 serviceable areas in the country, reflects the company’s commitment to fostering growth and success in its partner communities.
“Sa paglulunsad ng BiyahEdukasyon, hindi lang natin binibigyang halaga ang edukasyon, binibigyang-buhay din natin ang pangarap ng ating partner drivers na maitaguyod ang pag-aaral ng kanilang mga anak at kapatid. [Through BiyahEdukasyon, we are not only putting importance on education but also in materializing the dreams of our partner drivers to support the education of their children and siblings],” according to Senate Committee on Basic Education Chairman Sen. Win Gatchalian, who expressed his optimism for the program in a recorded message shown during the event.
“Our mission is clear: to ensure the success of our partner drivers and the communities that we work with in every facet of life. This program is a testament to our commitment to creating lasting positive change and in improving other aspects of our partner drivers’ lives, including their livelihood,” said Djon Nacario, Lalamove Philippines Managing Director. He also emphasized that the program not only empowers the lives of partner drivers but also the communities that they are a part of.
More than Just Financial Assistance
Fredinel Lopez, a 41-year-old partner driver from Manila, shared his appreciation for the program, highlighting its potential to support the education of one of his seven children. Lopez expressed that this financial aid is a small yet impactful contribution to his daughter’s senior high school journey, acknowledging her consistent academic achievements.
The BiyahEdukasyon program, a flagship initiative under Lalamove’s social arm, Deliver Care, represents a sustainable, long-term approach to supporting partner drivers in their respective communities. Complementing the existing Panalomove Benefits, this values-based approach aims to strengthen partner drivers’ capabilities, providing crucial support to help them build the lives they aspire to lead.
