Cocktail enthusiasts, bartenders, and gin aficionados gathered for a unique opportunity at Ginebra San Miguel‘s exclusive 1834 Epicurean Masterclass, held at Kondwi Bar in the heart of Makati. Hosted by the esteemed Paolo Abrera, this immersive event celebrated the mastery of mixology with a focus on 1834 Premiere Distilled Gin. Led by award-winning Master Mixologist Niño Cruz, the masterclass offered participants a hands-on journey through cocktail crafting and flavor pairings, making it an unforgettable experience for all who attended.

The 1834 Epicurean Masterclass welcomed a diverse audience, including gin enthusiasts, bar owners, and industry partners eager to enhance their knowledge of Ginebra San Miguel’s premium offering. The event provided in-depth education on the art of mixology, focusing on the unique characteristics of 1834 Premiere Distilled Gin, dubbed as “the Philippine gin the world has waited for.”

Niño Cruz’s expertise brought mixology to life through engaging demonstrations and practical tips. From crafting classic cocktails to experimenting with modern twists, attendees gained valuable insights into enhancing their drink creations with Philippine-inspired flavors, both in professional and home settings.

One of the standout features of the masterclass was the interactive cocktail workshop. Under Niño Cruz’s expert guidance, participants explored the art of balancing flavors, perfecting techniques, and using fresh ingredients to create cocktails with an authentic Filipino twist. The hands-on approach allowed everyone to try their hand at mixology, making the event both educational and enjoyable.

The event also featured exclusive tasting sessions where attendees savored their crafted cocktails, paired with curated food selections that complemented each drink. Highlights included the 1834 Adobo Gin & Tonic paired with Kangkong Nachos — a surprising combination that celebrated Filipino flavors. Another memorable pairing was the 1834 Bee’s Knees, sweetened with fresh honey, and served alongside golden, crispy Empanada Rolls. Each pairing was thoughtfully crafted to enhance the tasting experience, encouraging guests to discover the complex flavor profiles of the gin.

Kondwi’s own specialties also made an appearance, with dishes like Sinigang Pork Skewers and Mushroom Chips paired with the unique 1834 Gin & Co — a tropical blend of gin and coconut. The event’s host, Paolo Abrera, summed it up perfectly, describing the evening as “truly an epicurean experience.”
