Despite the challenging weather, Insular Life (InLife) held a successful Front Seat Midyear Market Outlook and Client Forum in Cebu City, gathering its most valued policyholders to discuss the evolving landscape of investment opportunities. The event, titled “Pathways to Opportunities: Strategies for a Shifting Landscape,” was conducted in collaboration with BlackRock Singapore Inc., a leading global investment management firm.

The forum aimed to provide attendees with insights into global investment trends and guide them in making informed financial decisions. Ron Lantin, InLife’s Fund Manager, acknowledged the hurdles facing Philippine equities, noting that the market has not yet bounced back to pre-pandemic levels. However, he highlighted the potential growth prospects, citing an improved inflation outlook and anticipated rate cuts. Lantin emphasized that the market’s current attractive valuations and low foreign ownership could present lucrative opportunities for investors.

Terena Kuo, Vice President for Southeast Asia at BlackRock, recommended diversifying investments beyond cash, local assets, and single company stocks and bonds. Kuo pointed out the appeal of current high deposit interest and bond yields but stressed the historical advantage of investing in equity and fixed-income portfolios during rate pauses like the one being experienced now. She also touched on potential scenarios for the upcoming US elections, noting that markets tend to perform well regardless of the ruling political party.

Paolo Puno, InLife’s Product Development Officer, presented the merits of adopting a data-driven and sustainable investment strategy. He highlighted the success of InLife’s Global Sustainable Income Fund, which leverages BlackRock’s data-driven approach to provide both monthly income and long-term growth. The fund reported a yield of 6.86% in July, showcasing its potential for generating attractive income for investors.

Stephen Ong, InLife’s Chief Agency Officer, expressed gratitude to the policyholders for their ongoing trust and to the agency force in Cebu for their dedication. He noted that InLife continues to be a leader in the life insurance sector, ranking 3rd in Net Worth, 4th in Assets, and 5th in sales performance as of the second quarter of this year. Ong reiterated InLife’s commitment to engaging its policyholders and enhancing the benefits for its Amorsolo Circle members.

The Market Outlook and Client Forum is one of the exclusive privileges offered to members of InLife’s Amorsolo Circle. Divina P. Gillego, Head of InLife’s High Net-Worth Individuals Segment, elaborated on the program, which includes market outlook forums, social events, musical performances, and art exhibitions. The Amorsolo Circle members also enjoy priority service lanes, relaxed underwriting requirements, and exclusive product offers.

InLife policyholders with active policies and total premium contributions of at least PHP1 million from regular pay products or PHP 10 million from single pay products are automatically enrolled in the Amorsolo Circle program.
