Leading regional insurtech company Igloo is kicking off 2025 with significant market expansions and strategic leadership appointments. The company has secured multiple new partnerships across Southeast Asia, launching innovative insurance products with top consumer finance brands, e-commerce platforms, and digital wallets.

Expanding Partnerships Across Southeast Asia

Building on its momentum from 2024, Igloo is strengthening its footprint in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand with new and expanded partnerships.

In the Philippines, Igloo is reinforcing its collaboration with Salmon by launching Gadget Protection, covering device repairs and replacements for gadgets purchased through Salmon’s platform. This adds to their existing Loan Protection, which secures repayments in case of unexpected financial difficulties. Similarly, Igloo’s partnership with Skyro is growing with the addition of Goods Protection, covering home furniture, clothing, auto accessories, and toys. Meanwhile, Igloo continues to deepen its relationship with Shopee Philippines, introducing its fifth product, Goods Protection, underwritten by SeaInsure. Since 2022, this partnership has facilitated over 16.9 million protection plans across Shopee’s 56 million monthly visitors.

In Indonesia, Igloo is launching new collaborations with Akulaku and Kredivo. With Akulaku, a Gadget Protection service — underwritten by Victoria Insurance — will provide one-year coverage for repairs and replacements. Meanwhile, Kredivo’s 10 million users will now have access to Travel Domestic insurance, covering trip cancellations, lost baggage, and more. Igloo is also expanding its product offerings with DANA, Indonesia’s popular e-wallet, by introducing Xtra Protection, a fraud protection plan designed to safeguard digital transactions.

In Thailand, Igloo is extending its partnership with True Money to offer insurance coverage for cars and motorcycles, catering to the country’s 20.7 million registered vehicles. In addition, Igloo is strengthening its collaboration with Lazada Thailand, introducing Flight Insurance to cover both domestic and international trips.

Strengthening Leadership to Drive Growth

Sasitharan Krishnan

Alongside its aggressive market expansion, Igloo has appointed Sasitharan Krishnan as its new Chief Distribution Officer. Krishnan, a seasoned insurance industry executive, brings over 30 years of experience, having previously held leadership roles at Sompo and Allianz Ayudhya Assurance. His expertise in insurance distribution and digital sales will be instrumental in expanding Igloo’s reach and enhancing its partnerships with insurers across the region.

“These partnerships underscore Igloo’s efforts to make insurance more seamless and integrated into everyday online transactions, and as we enter 2025, we are building on this momentum by deepening our commitment to making insurance more accessible, affordable, and seamlessly integrated into digital experiences. The slew of new partnerships — and the expansion of existing ones — within the first months in 2025 heralds our positive trajectory and highlights the continued value we provide in embedding insurance across diverse industries in Southeast Asia,” according to Raunak Mehta, CEO of Igloo.

As Igloo continues to expand its footprint in embedded insurance solutions, its latest partnerships and leadership appointments highlight the company’s commitment to making insurance more seamlessly integrated into digital transactions across Southeast Asia.
