The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) has teamed up with Google in a landmark initiative to enhance the skills of Filipino talent in the IT-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector. This collaboration supports the ambitious goals outlined in IBPAP’s Roadmap 2028, which focuses on strengthening the industry’s talent pool and maintaining the Philippines’ global competitiveness.
As part of this partnership, Google will provide access to Google Career Certificates, offering industry-recognized certifications in key fields such as cybersecurity, data analytics, IT support, UX design, and project management. In addition, the program includes the Google AI Essentials course available on Coursera, designed to equip Filipinos with foundational AI knowledge and skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
“IBPAP is proud to work with Google to strengthen our talent pool with essential skills for higher-value IT-BPM roles. This partnership is key to reinforcing the Philippines’ position as a global IT-BPM leader, ensuring our workforce remains competitive,” according to Jack Madrid, President and CEO, IBPAP.

Jackie Wang, Country Director for Google Philippines and Thailand, emphasized Google’s commitment to fostering growth in the Philippines, “Google is dedicated to fostering growth in the Philippines through AI and upskilling initiatives. Our collaboration with IBPAP exemplifies this commitment. By equipping Filipinos with in-demand skills, we hope to contribute to the country’s economic progress and digital future.”
The IT-BPM sector, a cornerstone of the Philippine economy, recorded US$38 billion in revenue and employed 1.82 million individuals in 2024. However, IBPAP recognizes the need to address the growing skills gap to achieve its Roadmap 2028 targets of US$59 billion in revenue and 2.5 million jobs.
This collaboration with Google is seen as a critical step in bolstering the Philippines’ position as a hub for high-complexity IT-BPM services, ensuring the industry remains a driving force in the global economy.
