The 2022 Philippine elections season is fast approaching and a global pandemic is still on-going. The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has resumed voter registration last 01 September 2020 and will continue until 30 September 2021.
As part of the commission’s effort in fulfilling their duties and to prevent the further spread of the virus, they are encouraging new voters and those who need to update or transfer their registration to use the COMELEC iRehistro website.
First Things First
iRehistro is an online voter application form enabling users to easily encode the necessary information for them to register, submit the actual application form, and set an appointment to have their biometrics captured.
The COMELEC iRehistro website accepts the following types of application:
- Registration (for new, first-time voters)
- Transfer of Registration Record
- Reactivation of Registration Record
- Change of Name due to Marriage or Court Order / Correction of Entries in the Voters’ Registration Record
- Inclusion of Records in the Book of Voters / Reinstatement of Name in the List of Voters
To use the iRehistro website, you will need to have:
- Internet connection
- Internet browser (of course, I suggest that you use Mozilla Firefox for added security)
- PDF Reader (no need to install a PDF reader software if you are using Mozilla Firefox, as it now has a built-in PDF viewer)
- Printer + Paper
How to Use iRehistro?
Using the COMELEC iRehistro website is straightforward. Simply point your web browser to https://irehistro.comelec.gov.ph/ to start your voter registration journey.
NOTE: We noticed that you will need to explicitly type the full URL (website address) in your web browser — https://irehistro.comelec.gov.ph/. Typing irehistro.comelec.gov.ph (without the “https://” part) will default to the non-https version of the site and will not load properly.
Once you are in the iRehistro website, you will simply need to choose the type of application that you wish to accomplish.
Next, you will need to fill-up the online form with your registration details and choose your preferred schedule (appointment) for Biometrics Capture and Form Submission.
If everything goes well and you did not miss any of the required fields in the online form, you will be presented with a generated PDF document containing your registration information and a QR Code. The PDF document already contains three (03) copies of the required form, which you will need to have printed.
Some Reminders
Voter registrants need to understand that accomplishing the online form at iRehistro does not automatically mean approval of their application nor automatically make them a registered voter. The iRehistro online facility was made for public convenience and to mitigate the further spread of the Coronavirus Disease during this pandemic.
You will still need to physically appear before the COMELEC office that has jurisdiction over your place of residence to submit the printed form and have your biometrics captured. Your registration or transfer request will only be done after the Election Registration Board (ERB) approves your application on the scheduled date of hearing.
According to COMELEC, biometrics capture may only be done at local COMELEC offices during office hours. A list of local COMELEC offices is found here.
Unfortunately, it won’t allow me to set an appointment 🙁
” The appointment system for this city/municipality is currently unavailable. “
For Makati City, coach? Pa-check natin.
It wont let me set an appointment? so do i only have 1 option left which is no appointment?
