Home Credit Philippines, a renowned diversity, equity, and inclusion organization and an equal opportunity employer, proudly announces the official establishment of its Pride Club. Comprised of LGBTQ+ identifying employees, this collective is tasked with championing workplace inclusion within the company.
The month of June holds great significance for the LGBTQ+ community in the Philippines, as it marks a month-long celebration of Pride Month. Throughout this period, various advocacy groups, civil society organizations, and companies come together to host Pride festivities, culminating in vibrant pride marches.
Home Credit Philippines, the country’s leading consumer finance company, has consistently demonstrated its unwavering support for this cause. In 2022, the company participated in the Pride PH: Alab for Love celebration in Quezon City, sending nearly 200 employees to join the Pride March. Additionally, it lent its support to the Iloilo Pride Team, organizers of the Iloilo Pride March, during the Pride Pyesta event in Iloilo City in November 2023.
“At Home Credit Philippines, DEI and workplace inclusion is important for us. We have always championed these causes as integral for how we take care of our people and build safe spaces where our employees can be themselves and thrive. The establishment of our Home Credit Pride team signals a more collaborative approach in creating equitable and inclusive policies and practices for our organization. This also allows our employees to be more empowered in advocating for causes that matter to them,” according to Alpha Omega Aquino, Chief People Officer of Home Credit Philippines.
While the company’s public participation in Pride events has been notable, Home Credit Philippines has also gained recognition for its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Notable accolades include the Asia CEO Awards’ Circle of Excellence Diversity Company of the Year, the United Nations Women Empowerment Principles (UN WEPs) Awards 2022 for Transparency and Reporting, and the 2023 Gold Stevie for Diversity and Inclusion.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are key focal points within Home Credit Philippines’ Environmental, Social, and Governance programs. The company takes pride in its diverse workforce, which comprises over 14,000 employees, with 52% being female. Furthermore, the company’s board of directors includes five women executives.
In a proactive effort to enhance its DEI policies and programs, Home Credit Philippines collaborates with advocacy partners. In 2022, the company joined forces with the Philippine Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE) and the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce (PLCC), solidifying its commitment to workplace inclusion.
In the previous year, Home Credit Philippines conducted a Gender Equality Assessment Results and Strategies (GEARS) in partnership with the PBCWE. This assessment allowed the company to identify gaps, opportunities, and strengths in its strategies related to workplace gender equality.
In 2023, Home Credit Philippines reaffirms its commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment through the establishment of the Pride Club. This Employee Resource Group, led by the company’s people, culture, and development team, will spearhead initiatives to promote DEI and workplace inclusion within the organization.
The inauguration of the Pride Club in 2022 was a testament to Home Credit Philippines’ dedication to creating an inclusive workplace. With the establishment of this new initiative, the company takes another step forward in its journey toward fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion for all employees.
The Home Credit Pride Club, with over 200 members in the Philippines, leads Pride activities at Home Credit Philippines. They recently launched a manifesto video #AtHomeKaDito, promoting Home Credit as an equal opportunity employer. The company offers inclusive benefits such as Wellness Leaves, gender-neutral restrooms, and HMO coverage for domestic partners. Home Credit Philippines has empowered almost 10 million Filipinos since 2013 and aims to continue growing, providing credit opportunities while fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
