The Philippines’ leading telecommunications company, Globe Telecom has taken a significant step towards embracing the future of technology by establishing the AI Development and Enablement Group (AIDE). This move underscores Globe’s commitment to continuous innovation and utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize its operations, service delivery, and customer experience.
The announcement, made by Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu, marks a pivotal moment for the company. AIDE, which will officially launch on 01 June 2024, will spearhead all AI initiatives within Globe. Its core functions will encompass strategic AI planning, development, business integration, and robust governance practices.
“Staying ahead in today’s competitive landscape requires continuous innovation and embracing new technologies. The emergence of AI presents a transformative opportunity, and we’ve already witnessed its potential across various teams within Globe. However, to truly harness its power, we need a unified approach and a renewed focus to navigate these technological frontiers with agility,” said Cu.
To lead this crucial group, Globe has appointed Anton Bonifacio, a seasoned cybersecurity and data privacy expert, as its first Chief AI Officer (CAIO). Bonifacio, who also serves as Globe’s Chief Information Security Officer, has a proven track record of pioneering groundbreaking solutions in data protection and cyber defense.
“The creation of AIDE represents a strategic investment in our technological capabilities. Our focus is on seamlessly integrating AI into our daily operations to unlock new levels of efficiency and cost optimization,” said Bonifacio.
Globe has already begun implementing AI in various internal processes, including credit and collections, financial reporting, and procurement. In addition, AI-powered solutions are being utilized for customer care and credit-scoring endeavors.
