Mapúa University has partnered with Fintech Alliance Philippines and the University of Cambridge Judge Business School’s Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) to offer the ASEAN region’s first off-campus Fintech and Regulatory Innovation (FTRI) program. The program, which will be available from June 2023, will provide localized content and educate learners on best practices in fintech, enabling them to create technology-enabled financial and regulatory innovations applicable to their organizations and fields of expertise. To allow more participants, Mapúa is offering special discounts and financial aid for the program’s initial offering.
Aspiring FTRI students can apply for five financial discounts offered by Mapúa and various corporate sponsors. National Association of Mapúa Alumni, Inc. (NAMA) members are eligible for a 20% discount, while a 15% program fee reduction is available for Yuchengco Group of Companies and Ayala companies’ employees. Certain government agencies may also apply for a 10% discount if eligible. Professionals currently employed in Fintech Alliance Philippines (FTAP)-member companies can enjoy a 5% discount, while trainees from one company or association who enroll in groups of five are eligible for a 5% discounted rate.
Mapúa University is recognized as a strong advocate of continuous learning and understands the FTRI program’s value in equipping finance and regulatory specialists to oversee the existing and future fintech landscape.
“The unprecedented impact of digital transformation in industries, society, and culture has made it imperative for higher education institutions (HEIs) like Mapúa to take the lead in ensuring that our professionals in both private and public sectors are more than able to adapt to the fast-paced and rapidly evolving industry like fintech. At the same time, we want the professionals to have the fortitude and competence to create, control, and optimize the newest technologies and solutions that are now available to us,” according to Raul Tan, Mapúa Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
The program is the first of its kind in the Philippines and is appropriately timed as industry and regulators adopt the innovations of this growing industry.
The comprehensive nine-week FTRI program’s enrollment ends on 01 June 2023, with online classes scheduled to commence on 14 June 2023. The program will cover modules on Fintech Innovation & Regulation, Innovation Office & Regulatory Sandbox, Regulatory Technologies, Insurance Technologies, and other relevant topics.
“By providing discounts and financial aid to students of the FTRI program, we aim to unlock the doors of opportunity for more professionals with backgrounds in banking and finance, entrepreneurship, regulation, policymaking, and technology so that they can be catalysts and gatekeepers to progress,” added Mr. Tan.
