Smartphones have become a ubiquitous and essential part of modern life. They offer a multitude of functions and capabilities that make them a necessary tool for everyday life. With a smartphone, people can communicate with each other instantly through calls, texts, and social media, stay organized with calendars and to-do lists, access the internet for information and entertainment, take photos and videos, and even make payments on the go. These devices also offer many productivity and creativity tools, allowing people to work and create from anywhere. Furthermore, they are becoming increasingly integrated with other technologies, such as smart home devices, making them an even more valuable tool. In short, a smartphone is a must in today’s world because it simplifies and enhances many aspects of daily life.

French mobile company WIKO has recently launched the mid-range smartphone WIKO T10 in the Philippines and I had the chance to play with the device for a gadget review.

First Impressions & Physical Attributes

The WIKO T10 unit arrived in its standard packaging, displaying a picture of the phone with the model number listed underneath. Upon opening the box, I found the WIKO T10 unit itself, a SIM card ejector tool, a Type-C USB cable, a 10W charger power brick, a User Manual, and a Warranty Card. The smartphone comes in Emerald Green (the one sent to me) and in Midnight Black colors. The device comes with a pre-installed screen protector — a major plus point if you’re after protecting your new gadget from day one.

The back of the WIKO T10 features a plastic textured finish with stylish geometric design elements, helping to prevent fingerprints from smudging the surface. The camera module is placed on a square platform that doesn’t protrude too much.

Equipped with a large 6.67-inch display and a 5,000mAh battery, the WIKO T10 runs on Android 11 Go Edition and is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 chipset with a PowerVR GE8300 GPU built on top of 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Out of the box, I’m impressed with how solid the device feels even if it is made of hard plastic. Though this smartphone comes with a massive 6.677-inch display, it still perfectly fits in my small hands.

The device can accommodate two (02) Nano-SIM cards with dual standby and has provisions for storage expansion via microSDXC.

Charging Time & Battery Life

With a non-removable 5,000mAh battery, I was able to live a full whole day using the WIKO T10 as my daily driver (I’m a heavy user of email, messaging, and social media). Using the included power brick and cable, I was able to fully charge the device in under three (03) hours (from 0% to 100%).

The package of WIKO T10 comes with a 2.0A power (charging) brick and a USB-C data/power cable.

Camera Tests

Still Photos

Testing the 13MP rear camera (autofocus) resulted in decent photos when used either during daytime or nighttime. My only concern with the device is that shooting at moving objects tends to produce grainy images, especially at night, but overall the camera outputs are at par with smartphones in its category. By the way, did I mention that the WIKO T10 is a mid-range smartphone?

Surprisingly, the WIKO T10 comes with a Professional photo setting allowing you to manipulate aspects such as Shutter Speed, ISO, and White Balance.

Videos

Just a fair warning: the WIKO T10 comes with very little stabilization when it comes to video recording. Make sure that you have a steady hand or will be using a tripod of sorts when you use this device to record videos.

Performance & Gameplay

The WIKO T10 supports GSM/HSPA/LTE (4G) networks. Depending on your telco and location, you should be able to enjoy this smartphone as a wireless Internet device with no problems at all.

When it comes to gameplay, mind you, I am not a gamer but I was able to test the WIKO T10 with Real Flight Simulator (RFS) without any hitch — thanks to the 4GB RAM it has onboard.

Priced below PHP6,000, this smartphone is a must-have for someone budget-conscious out shopping for a main Android device or even for a backup one.
