DITO Telecommunity, in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the local government of Cebu City, is excited to co-present the Palarong Pambansa 2024, the Philippines’ largest sporting event. This partnership underscores DITO’s dedication to fostering stronger communities and championing Filipino talent. The event will showcase the extraordinary skills of young athletes from 11 to 15 July 2024, in Cebu City.
Since its inception in 1948, the Palarong Pambansa has been a platform for young Filipino athletes to display their talents. This year’s event promises to be historic, featuring 12,000 participants, including athletes, coaches, and officials. Competitions will span 22 regular sports, one demonstration sport, and four Para Games. Notably, dance sports will debut as a regular event, and athletes from the National Academy of Sports and the Philippine Schools Overseas will participate for the first time.
Themed “Beyond Sports,” the Palarong Pambansa 2024 focuses on holistic athlete development, emphasizing both sports and education. This aligns perfectly with DITO’s mission to support and uplift Filipino talents. Evelyn Jimenez, Chief Revenue Officer for Consumer Business, highlighted this commitment, “Aligned with the principles behind our GalingDITO campaign, we want to recognize undiscovered talents, champion diversity, and empower more Filipinos to showcase their ‘Galing.'”
DITO’s involvement extends beyond the competition itself. Jimenez emphasized the broader impact of the event, stating, “The talent and perseverance of every young Filipino athlete contribute to their personal achievements, but collectively, they will help shape an empowering narrative of unity that will positively influence our nation.”
DITO will be actively participating in the Opening Ceremony on 09 July 2024, at the Cebu City Sports Center, alongside DepEd, local officials, athletes, and their families. Event attendees can look forward to exciting activities and exclusive freebies at the GalingDITO Booths. In addition, Pinoy pop boy group ALAMAT, GalingDITO Ambassadors, will hold a fan meet on 07 July 2024 at SM City Cebu, adding to the pre-event excitement.
