Converge ICT Solutions Inc. played a vital role in the success of this year’s National Youth Science, Technology, and Environment Summer Camp by providing high-speed internet access. The event, organized by the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs, Inc. (PSYSC) with support from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), took place in Batangas over four days.

The camp attracted more than 570 students from across the Philippines, with attendees coming from 23 schools nationwide. Many of the participants hail from Mindanao, and the camp’s activities aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of science, technology, and environmental issues. Xyril Dan Manuel, Marketing Head of PSYSC, emphasized the importance of engaging students in these subjects in an interactive and enjoyable way.

To further support the academic journey of young scientists, Converge also awarded a BIDA Fiber Internet Scholarship to a female camper from Batac, Ilocos Norte. The scholarship offers free fiber connectivity for two years, allowing the student to complete her senior high school education with reliable internet access.

Jay-Anne Encarnado, Converge VP and Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations, praised the PSYSC for its dedication to nurturing the next generation of scientists and innovators. She highlighted Converge’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote both scientific excellence and environmental sustainability.

“As a technology company, Converge has been an active supporter of initiatives that not only celebrates excellence in science and technology but also champions sustainable practices. Through these initiatives, we hope to see more students, especially young women, to go into the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics track and encourage them to pursue a career in the ICT field in the future,” Encarnado said.

The theme for this year’s camp, “Ravisinthe: Activating Electric Potential Beneath the Sands,” took students on a virtual journey exploring the mysteries of the earth and how it fuels technological innovation.

In addition to its contributions to the summer camp, Converge has been an ongoing partner of the DOST. Through collaborations such as the Vision Xperience Box, Converge has made DOST programs more accessible to the public. The company also provided free internet to learning hubs of the Philippine Science High School during the pandemic, aligning its initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
