You may ask where DITO Telecommunity is? I intentionally did not include DITO in the tabulation since they do not offer unlimited Internet packages.

Converge ICT gives the best Peso value to its subscribers with an average of PHP5.71 for every Mbps based on their current Internet services plans. Globe at Home comes second with a PHP11.86 per Mbps average, followed by PLDT Home at PHP12.66 per Mbps, and SKY Fiber with a whooping PHP25.96 per Mpbs average pricing as of this writing.

For years now, when I am asked to comment on the slow Internet speed in the Philippines, I would normally answer that I do not believe that Internet services in the country are slow; they are just too expensive. If you wish to have faster Internet connections at home, be ready to shell out more Philippine Pesos than the average user.

Converge Upgrades FiberX Plans

Converge ICT has again upgraded its suite of FiberX plans and introduced new packages to give Filipinos a faster and better digital experience.

For its base plan offering FiberX Plan 1500, the fiber broadband provider has doubled the speeds from 100 Megabits per second (Mbps) to 200 Mbps and retains the entry-level price of PHP1,500 a month for unlimited bandwidth with no data caps. The FiberX Plan 2000 will now have speeds of up to 400 Mbps (from 300 Mbps) and FiberX Plan 2500 users will now enjoy speeds of up to 600 Mbps (from 500 Mbps).

Subscribers of FiberX Plan 3500 will experience up to 800 Mbps while enjoying the freebie Linksys Velop 2-Pack Dual Band, while FiberX Plan 7499 users can have up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) Internet connection speeds and have a Linksys Velop 2-Pack WiFi-6 Mesh as a freebie.

Both FiberX Plan 3500 and FiberX Plan 7499 include the XCLSV membership, as well as other premium value-added services.

The ISP also introduced the new FiberX Time of Day Plan 1699 that has up to 400 Mbps as boosted speed and up to 200 Mbps as the default Internet connection speed. FiberX Time of Day Plan 3000 users can now enjoy up to 800 Mbps as boosted speed and up to 600 Mbps as the default one.

“We’ve been rolling out updates to our fiber network, as well as expanding our reach thanks to our Go Deep and Go National Strategy. It’s just natural that we also upgrade our offerings to fit the evolving needs of subscribers today. Because we’ve strengthened our backbone and our infrastructure, our faster, stronger, and better solutions are available for customers nationwide, even those in the underserved and unserved communities in the country,” according to Jesus Romero, Chief Operations Officer of Converge during a press briefing this week.

What Happens Now to Existing Converge ICT Subscribers?

Starting 11 November 2022, all existing Converge ICT customers, regardless of how long they have been subscribed to the ISP, will receive an automatic speed upgrade. Subscribers below Plan 2000 who opt-in to the speed upgrade before 12 December 2022 will enjoy their speed bump for the next 24 months.

For those who are currently subscribed to FiberX Time of Day Plan 2000 (like me), you will now be placed under FiberX Plan 2000 to enjoy Internet connection speeds of up to 400 Mbps (from 300 Mbps previously).

Current subscribers of FiberX Time of Day Plan 3000 will still enjoy up to 800 Mbps as boosted speed, however, the default Internet connection speed will be increased to 600 Mbps (from 500 Mbps previously).
