Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has achieved a significant milestone by completing the deployment of FREE public WiFi at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1 and 2. This initiative marks a crucial step in the company’s FREE Pure Fiber Wi-Fi project, which aims to provide complimentary connectivity across selected airports in the Philippines, in collaboration with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and various airport operators.
Travelers passing through NAIA Terminals 1 and 2 can now enjoy high-speed internet access for two (02) hours upon logging into the Converge network using designated SSIDs. In addition, Converge subscribers with GoFiber accounts are entitled to an extra six (06) hours of free internet access for up to five (05) devices by entering their account details. Prepaid fiber internet subscribers under the Surf2Sawa brand can also avail themselves of six (06) additional hours of WiFi for two devices upon registration.
“With the fiber connection now established in Terminals 1 and 2, Converge has completed the fiber-powering of NAIA and will be available for use of the four terminals whose combined traffic was estimated at 45 million passengers in 2023. We’re privileged to give reliable and seamless connectivity to the country’s busiest transit hub. There will be several more in the offing for our free public wifi program for the rest of the year,” according to Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge CEO and Co-Founder.
Covering a combined area of 148,000 square meters, including gates, retail spaces, lounges, offices, and medical facilities, Terminals 1 and 2 are now equipped with 105 access points to ensure seamless connectivity.
In a bid to support overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), Converge has extended free connectivity to the newly inaugurated OFW Lounge in NAIA Terminal 1, providing round-the-clock access at no cost to departing OFWs.
“We are glad to now have this service in Terminals 1 and 2, we now have free wifi in all terminals in Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Connectivity is really important for passengers, now that it’s considered a necessity,” said Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista, during the ceremony.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), in collaboration with the Department of Transportation and the local government of Pasay, celebrated the completion of the WiFi deployment at Terminals 1 and 2 in a ceremony held earlier today.
“We wish to thank Converge for this project. This latest development will definitely enhance the continuing service that the Manila International Airport Authority is providing to our travelers. We certainly look forward to more collaboration with Converge ICT in the near future,” said Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Eric Ines.
Looking ahead, Converge plans to expand its FREE WiFi coverage to other domestic and international airports in the Philippines, including Francisco Bangoy International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Bacolod-Silay Airport, Iloilo International Airport, Laoag International Airport, Pagadian Airport, Tacloban Airport, and Zamboanga International Airport.
