Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is set to revolutionize its network infrastructure with the deployment of Ribbon Communications Inc.‘s advanced Apollo optical networking system. This strategic partnership aims to optimize data transmission across Converge’s backbone network, paving the way for faster, more reliable internet services in the Philippines.

At the heart of this technological leap is Ribbon’s groundbreaking 5nm — 140Gbaud transmission chipset. By adopting this cutting-edge solution, Converge will significantly expand its fiber network capacity from 800 Gigabits per second (Gbps) to an impressive 1.2 Terabit per second (Tbps) per channel. This threefold increase in capacity is crucial to meet the surging demand for data-intensive applications, particularly in the realm of hyperscale operations.

“Ribbon’s solution surpasses our stringent requirements for this overlay on our existing backbone, enabling us to set a new standard for innovation. This new technology will bring our customers unprecedented speed and high bandwidth availability amid the growing demand for data-intensive applications,” according to Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge CEO and Co-Founder.

Beyond boosting network capacity, Ribbon’s 5nm chipset offers superior performance, energy efficiency, and heat management, making it an environmentally friendly choice for optical networks. Converge anticipates substantial power and cost savings in the long run, while also improving network reliability, enhancing data transfer speeds, and supporting scalability.

To maximize the potential of its upgraded network, Converge is also implementing Ribbon’s Muse SDN Domain Orchestration. This powerful toolset will optimize network capabilities through automation, planning, node design, and real-time control.

“We’re thrilled to deepen our relationship with Converge ICT with this major new deployment. Coupled with our technology, our local presence and proven round-the-clock after-sales support are key factors in our ability to support Converge ICT as they ramp their network to meet increasing demand for capacity,” said Ribbon COO and EVP Sam Bucci.

Ribbon Communications Inc., a global leader in real-time communications technology and IP optical networking solutions, has a proven track record of serving top-tier service providers, enterprises, and critical infrastructure operators worldwide.

This strategic alliance with Ribbon is the latest in a series of investments made by Converge to strengthen its network infrastructure. In 2021, the company doubled its metro backbone capacity to 800 Gbps. Converge has recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Super Micro Computer Inc. to establish AI-powered, green data centers in the Philippines.
