The movie unfolds against the stunning backdrop of Venice, Italy, where the detective Poirot, portrayed by Kenneth Branagh, has retired in search of peace and tranquility after a lifetime of confronting crime, death, and the horrors of war. However, crime has a way of seeking him out, even in his quiet retreat.
A surprise visit from an old friend, the renowned mystery writer Ariadne Oliver, played by Tina Fey, thrusts Poirot back into the world of intrigue and danger. Ariadne invites Poirot to attend a nighttime seance hosted by the famous mystic Joyce Reynolds, portrayed by Michelle Yeoh, with the intention of debunking her claims of supernatural power. However, what was intended to be a mere exposé turns into a gruesome murder, shrouded in the mystique of the otherworldly.
