The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) greenlights 194 high-impact infrastructure flagship projects (IFPs) worth PHP9T, prioritizing the development and improvement of transport structures such as expressways, road networks, railways, and airports. The initiatives also encompass the construction of farm-to-market roads to enhance the country’s food security and bolster physical connectivity, as well as water resource initiatives like irrigation, water supply, and flood management.
The government’s “Build Better More” (BBM) infrastructure program continues the “Build Build Build” economic strategy of the previous administration as such projects provide jobs to locals and make the country more attractive to foreign investors.
Century Peak Cement, a subsidiary of Century Peak Holdings Corporation (CPM), foresees a competitive edge as one of the cement companies that will profit from the BBM program. Being a new local market player, the brand’s unique qualities are expected to deliver significant benefits.
“We, at Century Peak Cement, fully support the BBM thrust of the government and this primarily stems from the fact that we are a proud Filipino brand. As the youngest player in an industry filled with global competition, Century Peak Cement not only plays its role proudly as an all-Filipino manufacturing brand but also heeds the call to do what it can for nation-building,” according to Katrina C. Keng, Century Peak Cement spokesperson.
In 2019, CPM expanded its purpose to involve itself in general construction, construction-related activities, land reclamation, real estate development, mining, power, and energy-related activities in the Philippines. With the use of cutting-edge cement production technology, Century Peak Cement creates sustainable products sourced locally. The brand’s sustainable practices range from reforestation of temporarily altered areas with indigenous and endemic trees to implementing a closed-circuit system via a wastewater treatment facility (WWTF), which results in zero water discharge and safeguards nearby bodies of water.
The plant is also strategically located near its own pier which allows it to get its cement products conveniently throughout the country.
