Filipino pop music, or P-Pop, is experiencing a major bloom, and the girl group BINI is leading the charge! According to data from Google Trends, BINI dominated YouTube searches in the Philippines throughout June 2024, even surpassing established international artists like Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Beyonce.
BINI’s search dominance wasn’t limited to just one region. The term “BINI” ranked highest in Calabarzon, Bicol, MIMAROPA, and Central Luzon, with an overall search interest score reaching around 80. Even Metro Manila, a hub for entertainment, showed significant interest with a score of 78.
This popularity extended beyond the Philippines. BINI outranked artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Beyonce in YouTube searches globally for most of June 2024. It is also worth noting that the group also garnered high search volume in the United Arab Emirates, a country with a large Filipino population, particularly in Dubai where over 700,000 Filipinos reside.
The data from Google Trends utilizes “interest over time percentage,” which highlights the dominance of a specific search term compared to others within a specific timeframe and location. In this case, “BINI” clearly ruled YouTube searches in many areas of the Philippines and even resonated with Filipino communities abroad.
This surge in BINI’s popularity coincides with the massive success of their recent singles, “Pantropiko” and “Salamin, Salamin.” Both songs became major summer hits, propelling BINI to superstardom roughly three years after their debut. These viral tracks solidified BINI’s position as a major force in the P-Pop scene and captured the hearts of Filipinos both locally and internationally.
