Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently hosted a comprehensive security briefing for the ASEAN region, emphasizing the company’s dedication to building the most secure global cloud infrastructure. This commitment is backed by a comprehensive suite of 300 security services and features, earning the trust of millions of customers, including those in highly sensitive sectors like government, healthcare, and finance. The press briefing also showcased new advancements unveiled at AWS Reinforce, highlighting the secure and innovative potential of Generative AI.

AWS announced several enhancements to further bolster security for its customers. Amazon GuardDuty Malware Protection for S3 now automatically detects potential malware within Amazon S3 object storage, eliminating the need for complex data scanning pipelines. The cloud computing company is also raising the bar for identity and access management by offering free passkey support for multi-factor authentication (MFA), strengthening security against unauthorized access. Upgrades to AWS IAM Access Analyzer provide enhanced recommendations and policy checks to help customers refine permissions, remove unused access, and enforce security standards. AWS CloudTrail Lake now supports natural language queries, simplifying data analysis and threat detection for customers. In addition, AWS Audit Manager introduced an AI best practices framework for Amazon SageMaker, assisting customers in ensuring their generative AI workloads comply with governance, security, and privacy controls.

The company emphasized its commitment to a Shared Responsibility Model, wherein AWS is responsible for the security “of the cloud,” protecting the underlying infrastructure, while customers are responsible for security “in the cloud,” securing their data and applications. This approach ensures that both AWS and its customers play an active role in maintaining a secure environment. AWS’s stringent security measures ensure that all products and services undergo rigorous testing and receive security team approval before release.

Several ASEAN customers shared their success stories of innovating securely on AWS. Botnoi.AI, a Thai company, is using AWS compute services to develop natural-sounding generative AI text-to-speech and voice chatbots in various ASEAN languages. Arcan.AI, a Vietnamese company, is building a culturally aware AI platform on AWS for Vietnamese businesses. Team.is, a Singaporean digital transformation solutions provider, is leveraging Amazon CodeWhisperer to enhance code quality, security, and developer productivity.

The briefing also highlighted the potential of Generative AI to empower security teams. By automating routine tasks, summarizing threat intelligence, and enhancing threat modeling, generative AI can help security professionals focus on higher-value activities. CyberAgent, a Japanese digital advertising company, has successfully implemented a security concierge chatbot using Generative AI, demonstrating its effectiveness in improving security outcomes.

AWS shows its dedication to providing the most secure cloud for Generative AI by enabling customers to innovate with confidence. The company is continuously innovating on behalf of its customers, offering a broad set of security services and collaborating with partners to integrate powerful security technology and controls.
