The beep™-enabled ID cards combine functionality and innovation, serving as both official identification for PCG personnel and a tool for cashless transactions. Integrated with the beep™ ecosystem, the cards allow seamless payments for transportation systems such as LRT1, LRT2, MRT3, and P2P buses, as well as retail transactions in establishments like Lawson and Uncle John’s convenience stores.

A Step Towards Digital Transformation

During the event, AF Payments Inc. President and CEO Jonathan Juan “JJ” Moreno emphasized the transformative potential of the project. “As PCG personnel start using their new beep™-enabled ID cards, they can anticipate a more seamless and rewarding experience, both in their professional duties and everyday transactions. This strategic collaboration not only highlights the potential of technology to enhance public service but also stands as a testament to our commitment to modernization and convenience,” Moreno said.

DOTr Secretary Bautista echoed these sentiments, highlighting the forward-thinking nature of the partnership, “This project goes beyond payment cards. It signals a forward-looking vision, integrating technology seamlessly into the daily lives of our personnel who dedicate themselves to safeguarding our nation. Let this partnership symbolize our commitment to those who serve on the front lines. Let it serve as a reminder that the Philippine Coast Guard is a forward-thinking institution.”

PCG Commandant Admiral Gavan hailed the initiative as a key milestone in the agency’s modernization efforts, “This most recent development, the deployment of beep™-enabled ID card brings the Philippine Coast Guard another step closer to being fully digitally visible.”

Expanding Digital Innovation Across Sectors

The launch of the beep™-enabled ID card serves as a model for other government agencies looking to modernize processes and improve convenience for employees. With added benefits such as exclusive freebies, promotions, and rewards points, the cards deliver value beyond basic functionality.
