The highly anticipated sixth edition of the Asia Pacific (APAC) Predator League, organized by Acer, officially launched in Malaysia today. This marks the first time the prestigious esports tournament is hosted in the country, with Malaysia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, attending the opening ceremony.
The APAC Predator League 2025 brings significant new features to the tournament, including the debut of two avatars, Nero and Yuffy, designed through a regional competition. These characters embody Acer Predator’s core values of gaming excellence and tactical precision. Their backstory, featuring themes of rivalry and resilience, aligns with the spirit of the league as a platform for showcasing skill and character.
Adding to the cultural flair, the event introduced the theme song “It Lies Within,” performed in local languages by prominent regional artists. This initiative highlights the league’s commitment to embracing diverse cultures and fostering deeper engagement within the Asia Pacific gaming community.
A total of 28 teams from 14 regions are competing in the Grand Finals held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). Acer Pan Asia Pacific President, Andrew Hou, emphasized the league’s evolution into a community-centric event, “The Asia Pacific Predator League 2025 Grand Finals at MITEC will offer a festival-like experience beyond the typical esports tournament. The event seeks to bridge the gap between gamers and non-gamers by showcasing the vibrant spirit of competitive gaming. Visitors will enjoy an immersive experience that highlights the energy, teamwork, and community aspects of esports. Alongside top esports teams, Acer has arranged special guest appearances by international singers and Malaysia’s award-winning artists. The Predator League is a unique celebration of esports, inviting everyone to explore the depth and excitement of competitive gaming beyond online representations.”
Acer Malaysia Managing Director, Kon Tek Yoong, highlighted the festival-like atmosphere, aiming to bridge the gap between gamers and non-gamers. The two-day event features not only esports battles but also guest performances by international stars, including Sandara Park and Minzy of 2NE1, Malaysian artists Aina Abdul and Hael Husaini, and G22 from the Philippines. Other attractions include a Coswalk competition and immersive activities with exciting rewards.
The tournament showcases Dota 2 and VALORANT, with teams equipped with top-tier Predator gaming gear. The prize pool for the event totals US$400,000, with champions receiving US$65,000. Special awards for MVPs and All-Star players add further incentives.
