Over the weekend, I went to several local shirt printers to have some swags samples done. For ease of file transfer (since not all suppliers are online, yet), my ever trusted USB Flash Disk did an awesome job of saving the artworks for printing.
However, this morning, when I tried using the Flash Disk (a 16GB one) it may seem that all of the files and folders therein got deleted.
The first time that came into my mind was to do a virus scan of the removable drive. Eureka! The PC Virus Scanner detected that the Flash Disk is indeed infected by a virus. So, after cleaning the Flash Disk, still the files and folders are nowhere to be found.
I fired up the Command Prompt (I am using a Windows 7 Professional machine) executed a DIR/AH (display directory — hidden files and folders) command and revealed that the files and folders were just hidden.
I tried to execute this command to reverse the files and folders from being hidden:
attrib *.* -h
but it didn’t worked. So I made a 5-minute review of my Windows Command Line, and came with this:
attrib -h -r -s /s /d k:\*.*
And that one worked! All of the files and folders in my USB Flash Disk are now visible from the Windows Explorer.
