Yield Guild Games (YGG) Philippines capped off its successful YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip with a grand event at Ayala Malls TriNoma in Quezon City on 14 July 2024. The culmination of a months-long nationwide initiative, the Manila leg transformed Trinoma into a vibrant web3 gaming expo, attracting over 2,900 attendees and pushing the Roadtrip’s total reach to nearly 7,000 Filipinos.
The YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip, a nationwide event, aimed to bring web3 directly to Filipino communities. It served as a platform to introduce Filipinos to the transformative possibilities of web3 gaming and fostered connections within the local web3 community.
The event offered a captivating experience for both seasoned YGG veterans and newcomers to the web3 space. Guests enjoyed game demos and show matches for popular titles like Guild of Guardians, Mojo Melee, Sipher Odyssey, and Arena of Faith. A special highlight was a demo of Parallel featuring YGG Esports captain Ian “Disi” Dela Cruz and YGG Pilipinas community leader Munchies, generating excitement for YGG’s participation in the Parallel Planetfall Invitational tournament later that evening. YGG Esports star Samuel Sequinox’s subsequent victory in the tournament cemented YGG’s position as a powerhouse in web3 gaming.
YGG Pilipinas Roadtrip sponsors actively participated in the event, hosting sessions and giveaways. Jambo Technology distributed web3 gaming-ready JamboPhone units, while Coins.ph, a leading Philippine crypto exchange, offered branded merchandise. Delabs hosted a Rumble Racing Star show match, where local web3 communities battled it out, and BreederDAO showcased their upcoming Playcore platform and Creatorverse roguelike.
Prominent YGG community members like Munchies, Stephy, spamandrice, Kookoo, YellowPanther, and KaizerGaming88 interacted with attendees through meet-and-greets and talks. Panels like “Building Successful Communities in Web3” emphasized the importance of community building and collaboration in the web3 space, encouraging participation in events like the Roadtrip.
Adding to the festive atmosphere was a grand cosplay competition with a PHP100,000 prize pool. Nearly 100 cosplayers, including YGG co-founders Gabby Dizon and Mench Dizon dressed as Mario Brothers, brought their favorite web3 characters to life. The competition saw Guy Singzon’s impressive Zhang Fei cosplay emerge victorious.
YGG’s partnership with Edison ensured remote participation. Hundreds of attendees explored the virtual event grounds, immersing themselves in the Roadtrip’s live stream and engaging in social activities and minigames. The evening concluded with a live performance by local rock band Lola Amour.
