The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) found some pricing issues related to Grab Philippines‘ GrabCar service in Metro Manila from 11 August 2019 to 31 October 2019. The PCC directed the ride-hailing company to disburse a total of PHP6.25M as a refund to select GrabCar Metro Manila passengers who took the service during the said timeframe.
On 09 February 2021, eligible passengers will receive a PHP1.00 disbursement for every PHP488 spent on rides using GrabCar in Metro Manila covering the period of 11 August 2019 to 31 October 2019. The refund can be claimed through the GrabRewards Catalogue within the Grab app.
In compliance with the regulations set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), those who have completed the basic KYC (Know Your Customer) process can directly redeem the amount which will be credited to their GrabPay Wallet accounts by 09 February 2021. Grab app users who have not yet completed their basic KYC will be required to finish this process prior to redemption.
Grab Philippines remains firm with its claim that the fare matrix they are using is compliant with the one issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
