Ayala Foundation recently secured over 800 Chromebook laptops from JPMorgan Chase – Philippine Global Service Center to boost the institution’s digital education and community development efforts. This generous donation aims to bridge the digital divide, improve learning outcomes for students, and enhance the competitiveness of micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) in underserved communities across the Philippines.
The collaboration between the Ayala Foundation and JPMorgan Chase Philippines underscores their shared commitment to promoting economic inclusion. The donation will equip public school students and teachers with essential technology, enabling them to leverage digital education platforms and enhance learning experiences. In addition, MSMEs in underserved areas will benefit from Chromebooks, allowing them to streamline operations and increase competitiveness through digitalization. The turnover ceremonies for the Chromebook donation were held simultaneously in April at JPMorgan Chase offices in Manila and Cebu.
“The Chromebooks helped our employees remain productive and stay connected during the pandemic. We’re happy to see that these will do the same for Ayala Foundation beneficiaries nationwide,” according to Bettina Salmo, Head of Corporate Centers in the Philippines for JPMorgan Chase.
This donation marks a continuation of the strong partnership between the two organizations. In 2014, JPMorgan Chase Foundation, the philanthropic arm of JPMorgan Chase, provided a grant to support teacher training under Ayala Foundation’s Center for Excellence in Public Elementary Education (CENTEX) initiative. CENTEX focuses on improving the quality of education for students and teachers in public schools across the Philippines.
Building and strengthening partnerships is a cornerstone of Ayala Foundation’s community development strategy. By collaborating with organizations like JPMorgan Chase, the foundation aims to maximize its impact and create lasting positive change in the communities it serves.
“We are grateful to JPMorgan for its generous contribution to our community development programs. By jointly investing in our communities, we enable better access to education and economic opportunities, ultimately leading to a greater development impact,” said Tony Lambino, President of Ayala Foundation.
Ayala Foundation plans to distribute the Chromebooks strategically across its various programs and partner communities. A significant portion will be allocated to students and teachers in underserved areas to facilitate their use of digital learning platforms. U-Go college scholars and community enterprises under Project Lio in Palawan will receive Chromebooks to support their educational pursuits and digitalized operations.
