nChain, a global leader and innovator in the blockchain ecosystem, has established an incubator in the province of Bataan, called Block Dojo Philippines. This move is a significant step towards positioning the Philippines as the future blockchain hub in Asia. By bringing their successful and innovative blockchain incubator from the UK to the Philippines, nChain intends to equip startups, enterprises, and talents with the necessary tools to succeed. Block Dojo Philippines will offer training, education, upskilling, and cross-skilling to homegrown talents, producing a pioneering generation of blockchain companies and professionals in the Philippines.

“Our investment and commitment to supporting Filipino start-ups and entrepreneurs align with our MOU signed last year with the Provincial Government of Bataan. We are focusing on driving adoption by growing blockchain knowledge, skills, and solutions to allow the Philippines to enable blockchain at all levels and highlight its capabilities to the world,” according to Stefan Matthews, nChain Group Chairman.

nChain and the Dojo will collaborate with innovative, early-stage start-ups to remove the challenges of starting a company and deliver a curated 12-week start-up program with access to potential capital, advice, strategy, and skills via nChain’s network of investors business experts, and partners.

“The Dojo has a ‘founder first’ mentality, and our primary goal is to support entrepreneurs in unlocking their potential whilst successfully creating startups that leverage the power of the BSV blockchain. Having established ourselves as one of the UK’s leading tech incubators, responsible for launching more successful blockchain startups than any other incubator or accelerator, the Dojo team are incredibly excited to help entrepreneurs in the Philippines. Providing a springboard for new and innovative businesses whilst helping existing Filipino businesses leverage the power of the blockchain and transition into the Web3 world,” said James Marchant, Block Dojo Chairman.

nChain is a leading provider of global blockchain technology, IP licensing, and consulting services. The company serves clients globally to power several industries, including gaming, supply chain, and finance. nChain offers Web3 solutions in the digital payment space, along with professional services that assist enterprises of all types to benefit from blockchain technology. nChain currently has almost 2,800 registered active and pending patents and is the developer behind the Bitcoin SV Node software, Teranode, Kensei, and more.

“I am delighted to express my support for nChain’s launch of Block Dojo Philippines. This incubator will provide the necessary training, education, and upskilling to produce a pioneering generation of blockchain companies and professionals in the Philippines. I commend nChain for their investment and commitment to supporting Filipino start-ups and entrepreneurs, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on our province and the country,” Jose Enriquez Garcia III, Governor of the Provincial Government of Bataan shared.

nChain and the Ateneo De Manila University (AdMU) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote and foster blockchain education within the educational institution, setting the framework for the future of the Philippines. AdMU’s research group, The Ateneo Blockchain Laboratory, will lead this collaboration, which aims to provide an additional blockchain leadership unit to the university’s course offering in the second semester of 2023. In addition, nChain will support PhD students with access to patented IP and grants to further blockchain research in the Philippines.

The Ateneo Blockchain Laboratory’s focus is on conducting applied research and development projects centered on the practical applications of blockchain technologies. Ateneo and nChain share a common vision and goal of advancing fintech and blockchain technology while achieving their social impact goals. This partnership is a significant step towards promoting blockchain education and research in the Philippines, leading to the development of a more robust and innovative blockchain ecosystem in the country.

“Our collaboration with nChain aims to expand the University’s blockchain programs through education, capacity-building, and research initiatives. Blockchain technology can potentially solve many of our society’s problems. As a research institution, we want to explore the potential of blockchain for the ultimate goal of nation-building,” said Christian Pulmano, head for the Ateneo Blockchain Laboratory.

nChain partners with educational institutions and world-class universities across the globe. It supports and promotes interdisciplinary research and education, as well as a wide range of academic programs in information and communications technology, cryptology, economic theory, and data science. nChain provides policy recommendations and empirical evidence on blockchain uses and technology’s social and economic benefits.

The company is committed to advancing the global adoption of the BSV Blockchain, the largest public blockchain that has restored the original Bitcoin protocol and unlocked the ability to scale. This means that it can increase its block sizes and transaction capacity as needed while lowering fees to tiny fractions of a cent. This aligns with governments and institutions that process a high number of transactions on a daily basis.
